Lola Boix
Acupuncturist
Qualifications and registration
Lola holds a BSc Hons in Traditional Chinese Medicine from Westminster University, qualifying in 2000, and is registered with the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC). She is also a qualified Shiatsu practitioner. Over the course of her career she has undertaken extensive continuing professional development, including further training in women's health and fertility, musculoskeletal conditions, digestive disorders, sleep, mental health, and nutrition.
Lola has been practising acupuncture for 26 years, and she came to it the way many people discover treatments that change their lives: she had it herself, and it worked. An earlier interest in Shiatsu had already introduced her to the principles of Chinese medicine, and when acupuncture helped her personally, the path became clear. She qualified from Westminster University in 2000 with a BSc Hons in Traditional Chinese Medicine, and is also a qualified Shiatsu practitioner.
Her career since has been remarkably varied. For seven years she worked in an NHS hospital, seeing up to four patients an hour as part of a team recognised with a Prince Charles award for excellence in research, teaching, and patient care. She also spent 20 years working in a GP surgery alongside doctor referrals, and for 26 years she has run therapy groups for Transport for London, supporting people managing stress, addiction, and substance use. She has been at Brixton Therapy Centre for 24 of those years.
Lola works across a broad range of conditions, from musculoskeletal pain and digestive problems to sleep difficulties, anxiety, and long COVID. She has a particular passion for women's health and fertility, an area she has worked in throughout her career with many successful outcomes. Her approach centres on involving patients in their own recovery: helping them understand the root cause of what is making them ill, and encouraging them to take an active part in getting better. Outside the clinic, she practises Qi-gong and Tai Chi, tends her garden, and loves spending time in nature. She sees patients in Spanish and Catalan, as well as English.

In Lola's own words
"I love the challenge of finding the root cause of a patient's condition, whether it's physical, emotional, or spiritual. The best part of my job is helping people change their lives for the better, and I'm constantly learning from my patients, which helps make me a better practitioner."
