Dyslexia Care
Talk to someone who understands
Carole provides a specialist counselling service geared towards the needs of adult dyslexics, and dyslexic students.
Many dyslexics view their dyslexia as a gift; however, some dyslexics from time to time find things like exams, the work environment, stressful and overwhelming, leading to poor concentration, performance anxiety and feelings of inadequacy.
- The experience of school may have been a nightmare especially if you only found out that you are dyslexic as an adult.
- Some times authority figures say things that are insensitive, leaving you feeling embarrassed and humiliated.
- A dyslexia assessment can trigger very strong feelings of anger, loss, reflection, and a revision of all the unnecessary hassle and trauma over the past years.
- Some dyslexics suffer from the pressure of keeping their dyslexia a secret and live in fear of discovery.
- The years of negative and poor interpretations and judgment about your abilities can lead to things like low self-esteem, lack of confidence, depression, feelings of shame and insecurity
Why Counselling
Counselling can help you deal with difficult feelings, help you make sense of your painful experiences; and facilitate in rebuilding your self-esteem and confidence.
The goal of the counselling is to facilitate an exploration of your own thoughts and feelings with the counsellor assisting you in arriving at you own solutions. Dyslexia Care counselling is designed to empower YOU.
Counselling gives you the space to share how you truly feel, and supports you in understanding your feelings and finding new ways of coping more effectively.
Counselling is confidential, and is delivered one to one in private, by Carole Miles a counsellor who understands dyslexia.
Counselling can help you overcome difficulties that normal interventions for example study groups and technical advice are not able to provide.
